Discipline vs. Shadow — a few days of thoughts
戒律 vs 暗影 —— 几天以来所想
Well, with my newly-transferred discipline priest geared out (rite hurr, yes, I have some estupid gems and gear, etc. etc. make fun of me now. they wouldn’t refund my satin helm/gloves for the mooncloth parts ), I started to do some 2v2 [color=royalblue]and 3v3 arenas.
穿上我新准备的戒牧装备(嗯,对,呵呵,我有一些傻乎乎的宝石和装备一类的东西,用来娱乐娱乐自己。他们不会让我用绸缎套去换月布套。),我开始去打打2v2和3v3的竞技场比赛。
Over the past few days, I’ve been doing some 3v3 arenas as RMP. Our starting rating was in the 2100’s and so far our record is 20-3 from there. We haven’t seen many Druid/Hunter/Warlock teams, which is the obvious counter team to RMP, which is pretty lucky.

A few things I’ve noticed as Disc is that it’s almost always convenient to spend GCD’s defensively dispelling. It’s very, very easy to set a focus to a mage or warlock on the other team, see them cast a fear or polymorph, keep an eye out on your party frames, and dispel it in less than a second. It’s not particularly difficult to do that on a shadow priest if you’re not being assisted but Disc priests practically never get assisted, so I just play my LOS and dispels come very easily. It was really refreshing to be able to conveniently dispel fears, polymorphs, and silences off my teammates almost all the time.

On the other hand, I was a little bit underwhelmed by how much healing output I could do, especially factoring in Wound and MS. Against double melee / druid teams, I found it really difficult to keep my mage up. We won every game against double melee (I honestly have no idea if that’s how the fights are supposed to be played out, assuming good players on both sides, but that’s how it happened). After playing on a druid and paladin on the TTR so much, it was hard to get used to solo healing through double melee. Maybe I’m just terrible, I’m not really going to deny that at this point after seeing me mess up 10 times a game.

Another great thing about Disc is that I can still put out decent burst because of the 1/3 healing = dmg change from a couple of patches ago. I felt like I was really contributing to burst with Mind Blast / Deaths and even the occasional Pain, more than what I was expecting. Plus SW:D is up a lot, and generally risk-free, in case I have to break Polymorphs.
戒牧另外一个很棒的地方是我仍然能提供不错的爆发性输出,因为前面的某个补丁提供了1/3治疗转为法伤。我觉得我确实能通过心爆+灭的爆发和某些情况下的痛提供比我预期还多的伤害输出。暗言术:灭尤其多,而且万一我需要用来破羊的话,通常用起来没有风险。
So basically, going up above my SP/Lock/Druid team (which is now SP/Rogue/Druid as of this week) in 23 games from 2100’s with almost 0 problems surprised me a lot. I mean, when I was playing on my shadow priest, we had our fair share of problems… we didn’t lose a TON, but we definitely didn’t steamroll teams the way we do as RMP. Every fight seemed like an uphill battle, like we weren’t really in control. At least to me.

Then I was joining a point selling 5v5 team, I think we went from 1850-ish to 2050-ish. I really have to say, WOW. I have NEVER enjoyed 5v5 as much as I did that night. I was screwing up left and right, but I still felt like I was contributing. On my shadow priest, I just die so ridiculously fast in 5v5 that sometimes I want to apologize to my teammates… without a real reason… I mean, I guess I’m sorry for playing a shadow priest? Either way, as a discipline priest in 5v5, I felt like I was playing a whole new game. I’m trying NOT to make this a whiney post about shadow priests, but I’m also trying to be as truthful as possible, without giving out the wrong message. The bottom line is, Disc priests contribute a whole lot more in 5v5 than shadow priests. Then again, I am running two separate set ups on both of my priests so I guess that’s not really a completely fair comparison.
之后我们一致同意卖掉5v5的队,我们从1850打到了2050。我确实不得不说,喔喔,我从未像那个晚上一样享受过5v5。我到处上窜下跳,但我还是觉得自己在起作用。当暗牧时,在5v5中我挂的如此之快,以致于有些时候我很想向队友们道歉…没有实际理由的道歉…难道我是为我玩的是一名暗牧而感到歉疚? 另一方面,作为一名戒牧戒牧参与5v5,我感到自己参加的是一场完整的比赛。我不想把这个帖子变成一个关于暗牧的牢骚帖,但是我也试图做到实话实说,不传递出错误的信息。底线是,在5v5中戒牧确实能比暗牧发挥多得多的作用。前面提到的,我在两个天赋时参加的是不同的组合,所以我猜这并不是一个完全公平的比较。
Anyway…
Earlier this night I was doing 2v2’s with a hunter as Disc Priest/Hunter. We started out at 1500 from a new charter, and went to ~1930 without any losses (but jesus christ, we had some close games with warrior/druid. STRATS PLEASE?). From then on, we sort of bounced around up and down. I think we ended the night around high 30’s as wins and 7 losses. It’s a pretty good set up, but not having stoneform really blew. I definitely didn’t feel as good in 2v2 as I did about 3v3 and 5v5. Shadow seems very superior to discipline for 2v2, and I’d also consider shadow to be viable for 3v3, just not AS viable as Disc.

晚上早些时候作为一名戒牧我和一味猎人打了2v2。我们新建了一个队从1500打起,以不败的战绩打到了1930~(但是神啊,我们有几场和战德的比赛打得非常接近。来点有技术含量的行吗?)。在那以后,我们在那个分数段徘徊。我想我们结束的时候胜了大概30多场输了7场。这是一个不错的组合,但是没有石像形态确实很伤。我明确地感觉到在2v2中没有像3v3和5v5中那样感觉良好。暗牧似乎在2v2中要比戒牧好不少,而且我也认为暗牧在3v3中是可行的,只是没有戒牧那么好用。
Just out of curiosity though, for anyone running Disc Priest/Hunter, what are the main teams you have trouble with? We were having some difficulties with Warrior/Druid and Rogue/Warlock. Are we just bad? LFstratzpst
只是出于好奇心,别的戒牧/猎人组合的玩家,你们最头痛的队伍是哪些?我们遇到战德和贼术时感觉有一些麻烦。是不是因为我们太差了?欢迎战术帖。

I had a lot of fun playing a well-geared Disc priest in serious arenas finally (aw i <3 u temmatez =) yes evn u imagez lol no not rly), and even though it’s more viable and easier to get higher rated with, I don’t think it’ll ever compare to how fast-paced and exciting shadow is. So for anyone who feels like blowing this out of proportion, no I’m NOT switching my main to my Disc priest, that’s mostly going to be my *heh heh* money makah, and for-fun 2v2/3v3 teams. All of my main teams are still going to be shadow, my main priest is still going to be shadow. So make sure that you quote that if any of you make a post or something saying “well NOXN has a disc priest and she says that theyre a lot better and has more fun playing disc than shadow and probably going to switch mains!”.
最后,我在严酷的竞技场战斗中享受到了作为一名装备不错的戒牧的很多乐趣(哦,还有队友 )。但是,即使这样更加可行而且更容易打到高等级,我不认为在快节奏和刺激性方面能和暗牧相比。所以无论谁用人口比例来反驳我,我都不会将我的主业转为戒牧。戒牧我只会用来打供卖钱的队和纯粹娱乐的队。我的所有主要的战队都将是暗影,我的主业也将是暗影。所以当有人发贴子说“看,Noxn在玩戒牧了,而且她说戒牧要好的多也比暗牧好玩的多,她可能会改行”的时候请一定引用这句:
